Fruits and Vegetables to avoid While we all have the notion that all fruits and vegetables are healthy foods, those suffering from acid reflux should avoid some that are acidic in nature. Eating these acidic fruits and vegetables will aggravates their condition since their damaged esophagus couldn’t take in any more acids. Some of these fruits include lemons and oranges. Vegetables that are considered acidic are onions and tomatoes. Spicy foods could also trigger acid reflux especially those with prior damage already. Caffeine in coffee, tea or sodas and all alcoholic beverages could add unnecessary acids in the stomach that could cause the attacks. The effect of these foods varies from person to person. One could be gravely affected upon intake while some won’t feel any attacks at all. It is then recommended that a food intake diary be kept to monitor the food eaten versus the symptoms experienced.
