Acid Reflux Food - The Acid Reflux Diet

Acid reflux is a condition that occurs when acid-containing gastric juices from the stomach come back into the esophagus.  This is commonly known as heartburn.  Some symptoms of acid reflux include a burning sensation in the throat, sourness in the mouth, chest pain, breathing difficulty, and a sensation of acidic contents rising from the stomach.

By making a few changes in food choices, you can help avoid acid reflux.  However, keep in mind that acid reflux food to avoid may affect other people differently.  For example, you could experience acid reflux symptoms when eating tomato-based foods.

However, in another person, it may not.  For this purpose, it is wise to keep your very own food diary, where you can jot down the foods that trigger off acid reflux symptoms.

Acid reflux food to avoid includes fruits such as orange juice, lemon, grapefruit juice, cranberry juice and tomato.  For vegetables, avoid eating mashed potatoes, French fries and raw onions.
