Recurrent yeast infections, or technically known as recurrent monilia vaginitis, are a major problem for about 6% of the world’s female population. And the first question any sufferer questions is: “why do I keep getting yeast infections?” The question is honest and simple to question, but not so simple to answer.
Recurrent yeast infections, or even the occasional yeast infection, can generally be attributed to a weakened immune system. Just catching a cold could place you in the high percentage of women who might easily contract a yeast infection. Not getting enough sleep and being stressed out can make you more prone to a yeast infection. And having that “time of the month” also puts your immune system in a weakened state, which should not be a surprise to anyone. That’s why so many women get a recurrent yeast infection that coincides with their menstrual cycle. Also, if you have recurring U.T.I.’s, then you are often the victim of recurrent yeast infections. Taking a high quality supplemental “immune booster” is an brilliant way to combat these situations.
But, a weakened immune system might not be the only culprit in causing a recurrent yeast infection. There is excellent reason to believe the bacteria in our system plays a roll.
Pathogenic bacteria (also known as unfriendly bacteria), and non-pathogenic bacteria (known as friendly bacteria), as well as yeast (a fungus) live in the intestines. All three need to be in balance for you to live a healthy normal life. When the bacteria is not in balance, for example you have a low count of excellent bacteria, that’s when you become susceptible to recurrent yeast infections, viruses and diseases.
Knowing what factors are involved that cause an imbalance will help you prevent many of the recurrent yeast infections. First, start eating healthy with plenty of vegetables, very small sugars and a variety of different foods in the food pyramid diet. Eliminate tap water. Excellent hygiene is a must. Avoid antibiotics if possible, if you must take them; use a supplemental probiotic to counter the effects. Last, get some exercise. Walking or running will go a long way in keeping your body healthy. And that is something we can all live with.
